It’s been a long time, since my last post, again. I had the summer of my dreams in the meantime. Nice weather, nice people, and hell of a time. I worked as a raft guide and that is something I really love to do! Hence, I thought I should better spend winter somewhere warm, where I can raft for a living. So, instead of freezing my ass off in Austria, while being bored at university, I’m overwintering (is this really a word?) in Costa Rica!

My mom is now officially ashamed of me, because I’m not studying anymore. For her, there’s just one thing to make you happy: MONEY!!! Sadly, she doesn’t even recognize that quite the contrary is happening to her. Anyway, that’s not her story!

What I gonna do the next 6 months?

I’ll leave Austria on October 14 to arrive in San José on the following day. I already booked a hostel for three days, cause I need a place to get properly wasted with friendly people to celebrate the beginning of my journey. Anyway, that’s the only thing I arranged so far. The rest is mere ideas yet.

I’ll probably spent the one month traveling. First I’ll head to Tamarindo (oh you’ll hate me, when you google that). Maybe, I’ll just stay there for some time, maybe I’ll go south later. Don’t know yet. After four to six weeks, I’ll go to Siquirres, a small place somewhere in the mountains to take up “work”. There’s the biggest outdoor company, which is also the one I want to guide for. I have no clue how that will be, though rafting in Costa Rica is supposed to be awesome!

But, how to fit your whole life plus your rafting gear into one backpack?

Every journey begins with a small step, but this step is a fucking mission!

Will, Oct 2009

Wow, quoting myself feels quite cool! Anyway, as the picture down there illustrates, that’s a whole lot of stuff to fit into one backpack. Especially the raft gear is pretty tricky. I don’t want to damage it, cause it’s there to safe my life. Seems as if there’s a serious amount of stuffing ahead. I really have to go for the essentials when packing cloths and stuff, otherwise I’d need two more bags. Whatever I can afford to buy in CR, will be left home. Yet, this is going to be a though one, as the raft gear is also quite heavy and I’m not in the mood to pay extra.

Quite obviously I’m going to blog about my adventures and other stuff that’s on my mind! So, see you around mates!
